It’s Been A Looong Summer
It’s 2 weeks into my summer vacation and I have yet to see a beach or even a pool. My cute, new swimsuit and I really, really want to go swimming. Unfortunately, being that our schedules are wildly mismatched, squeezing in some getaway time with my friends has become next to impossible. Some of them still have exams, while my summer classes begin next week. Oh, well…I just hope we manage to find time to go swimming before June.
On the up side, I finally have my room back! I had to spend the last three weeks crashing at our living room sofa, thanks to the termites that devoured every inch of my bedroom floor. I was finally able to sleep on a real bed again just this week. I am so happy to have walls and a door again.

My Teeth Are Zit-Free
This afternoon in an impressive display of absent-mindedness, I…drumroll, please…brushed my teeth with facial wash. I of course stopped as soon as I noticed that I wasn’t tasting the usual minty freshness of my toothpaste, gargled like crazy, then laughed my head off. What made the situation particularly hilarious was the fact that the same thing had already happened to my friend Aggie. I think it was even the same brand of facial wash hehe
I’ll be sure to ask her the next time we talk. At this point, whether Pond’s Anti-bacterial Facial Scrub is as effective as Colgate Total still remains to be seen. If my breath is still sweet-smelling after dinner, I’m switching.
Aside from finding alternative uses for various beauty products, I’ve also been busy trying to learn how to make tableless layouts. The new layout for the CWSS Weblog is my very first attempt. The code’s still a bit messy and I’m quite sure I committed a lot of violations, but it’s a start. Besides, how can you go wrong with using synonyms for the word “insane” in a layout?
Also, the March issue of Pixelbureau is now up. Included in this issue is an interview with me. “Nikki Brion shares her happy accident in her webdesign and doodling hobby,” says the teaser. Check it out! It’s a really cool netzine. And I’m not just saying that, because they chose to interview me hehe
In fact, I’m still surprised that people consider me an artist and/or a webdesigner. What can I say? I’m just a doodler who occasionally brushes her teeth with facial wash

The Case of the Missing Phone
My mom’s cellphone got stolen this morning while she was commuting home from my grandma’s house. Apparently, she left one of her bag pockets open and a fellow passenger must have just decided to help himself. I wasn’t really surprised when I found out because my mom’s kinda careless about these things. What I am surprised about is that something like this hasn’t happened to me yet. I’m not as careless as my mom, but I’m not exactly the ever-watchful pedestrian either.
I am, however, always watchful for children’s picture books on sale. I am a big fan of children’s books, but they’re usually so expensive. But I recently lucked out and was able to get a hardbound copy of a jazzy children’s book called The Low-Down Laundry Line Blues for 50 pesos at a National Bookstore sale and the paperback edition of a charming picture book called Spring is Here for 25 pesos in a used bookstore in UP. Now I would neither pass up a chance to rummage through dusty racks in a secondhand book shop nor say no to digging through messy sale piles in big bookstores. You’ll never know what treasures you’ll find
