My Misbehavin’ Mouse

My computer mouse has gone bat-shit crazy. The left button is sticking, so almost every left-click behaves like a double click. It opens multiple windows and accidentally closes others, deselects things right after I select them, resizes windows at inopportune moments… the list goes on. It’s ANNOYING (note the angry caps locking).

We bought that mouse not even a year ago. The one that came before it lasted a good several years before croaking, so in my mind it has no business malfunctioning so soon. I’m going to have to buy a new one, unless one of you knows how I can fix it. Any suggestions?

Speaking of mice, here’s a cat drawing I made for Tracy. (Yay for segues that really aren’t!) I used it for a thank-you card I sent her in January. I love it when cats purr :)

    • I’ve had problematic mice before too. Ones where the ball would stick so I’d be unable to navigate. I’m not sure why your mouse is acting wonky, it could be that it is depressed through wear and tear.

      LOL. To someone that knows nothing about computers, that above paragraph would sound really crazy!

      Aww, I love that illustration! Cats are co cute :)

    • What kind of mouse is it, the type with a ball, or the laser type?

      Oh well, either way, I think a replacement is the best idea.

    • Rafia, I had lots of problems with ball mice before, too (mostly because I was too lazy to clean the trackball /heh). I thought an optical mouse would be less problematic, but apparently I was wrong :P

      Amanda, it’s a wired optical mouse from A4. I’m definitely going to try a different brand this time.

    • Argh! I had that problem too! Is that the A4 optical mouse (black)? I bought two… and they lasted less than a year (If I remember correctly, around 6 months… more or less). >_

    • Talaga? Mine’s silver, but it’s probably the same model. Stupid mouse >:-( No more A4 mice for me.

    • I’m using a Creative optical mouse and thankfully, I haven’t got any issues with it. It has been with me for a little over a year already. I think it’s better if you get a new one.

    • Just so you know, the girls are required to wear a white or ecru dress, nothing sleeveless or tube-style and must be mid-calf or ankle length. Conservative, no? Pero I bought a halter style dress, he..he..Idadaan ko na lang sa cover-up. And closed shoes nga pala. Of course if you’re gonna come you still have to pay for the sablay, grad fee and diploma : (

      Sorry kung delayed yung announcement ko, I thought kasi you were dead set on skipping the graduaton.

    • Well, I am dead set on not participating in the actual ceremony. Gastos pa kasi… ang daming babayaran :P If I do come, it’ll just be to see everyone.

      Grabe naman yung dress requirements! Ang hirap kayang humanap ng ganun ngayon.

    • ‘Wag maliitin ang kakayahan ng optical mouse na retractable. ‘Yung maliit. Hindi rin siguro recommended sa’yo ang wireless mouse sa simpleng dahilan na mas madalas kang gumuhit at dumisenyo (yata, sa obserbasyon ko kahit hindi importante). Sa pagpili ng mouse, siyempre isa-alang-alang ang comfort nito sa’yong mga kamay. Maganda nga ang optical, ‘yung gumagamit ng laser bilang tracker, dahil hindi ito dumihin kaya hindi nakaka-apekto sa accuracy nito. Nagkataon naman nakasanayan kong gumamit ng maliit na mouse para mataray.

      At para sa mga hindi gaanong naligayahan sa A4Tech, ito ang gamit ko ngayon. Medyo matagal na siya sa’kin, at wala pa naman akong nagiging problema, bukod sa alam kong ako lang mismo ang problema. If symptoms exist, insult your doctor.

      I’m sorry about your mouse though. Happened to me too. Luckily I could get a cheaper mouse that works even better ^_^
