The Case of the Missing Phone

My mom’s cellphone got stolen this morning while she was commuting home from my grandma’s house. Apparently, she left one of her bag pockets open and a fellow passenger must have just decided to help himself. I wasn’t really surprised when I found out because my mom’s kinda careless about these things. What I am surprised about is that something like this hasn’t happened to me yet. I’m not as careless as my mom, but I’m not exactly the ever-watchful pedestrian either.

I am, however, always watchful for children’s picture books on sale. I am a big fan of children’s books, but they’re usually so expensive. But I recently lucked out and was able to get a hardbound copy of a jazzy children’s book called The Low-Down Laundry Line Blues for 50 pesos at a National Bookstore sale and the paperback edition of a charming picture book called Spring is Here for 25 pesos in a used bookstore in UP. Now I would neither pass up a chance to rummage through dusty racks in a secondhand book shop nor say no to digging through messy sale piles in big bookstores. You’ll never know what treasures you’ll find :-)
